One of the best, and FREE methods for advertising your website on the internet is via what has become known as the Web 2.0 phenomenom. Web 2.0 involves the formulation of a strategy utilising blogs and article writing sites.

Traffic exchanges can also work well in creating “backlinks”. Essentially, the more backlinks (original content blogs and articles, that link back to your website) that you can create, the more highly search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Lycos, etc. will rate your site. The higher your site is rated for a given keyword, the higher your website will appear within the search results of that search engine.

Given that the ultimate aim of any internet marketer is to create a website that is ranked highly enough to attain, say a Google page one ranking for a given keyword, then Web 2.0 advertising is an excellent strategy to achieve this.

Right, let’s now discuss how to put this into practice. I recommend opening accounts with online social networking sites MySpace, Squidoo, Facebook,Twitter, video sharing websites like YouTube, and Google Video, as well as with social bookmarking sites Del.icio.us, and Digg.

Once you have opened accounts with these social networking webites, you need to spend a little time observing the way things are done on that site. This is very important if you are to avoid making mistakes considered offensive by either the moderator on the site, or just as importantly by the community of followers themselves. It would obviously become much more difficult to establish rapport, respect and trust, if you have been abusing your fellow community with spam, or by blatant advertising.

The purpose of this strategy is to publish quality content in either blog form or perhaps as an expert article, within your niche, in a fashion that will create a positive talking point, such that readers will refer others to your article, as well as attracting readers to your main website. This is known as viral marketing.

Social networking sites allow you to feature links to your website and
blog. The creation of these one-way links and traffic along
with high search engine page rankings are crucial to their success. Web 2.0 helps achieve all these, free of cost.

As mentioned earlier in this article, Traffic Exchanges can also be adopted successfully to drive traffic to your website. One traffic exchange that I recommend is Freetrafficsystem.

This site does something called spinning. Spinning enables the author to recraft their article by changing selected words within it, so that Freetrafficsystem can submit your article to 30 article marketing sites with sufficient different words within it to prevent the article from being duplicated, as this will reduce its ranking. There is even a piece of software available for purchase that automates the spinning process.

The serious web 2.0er needs to do more than just blogging. There a high profile sites such as Instablogs where your efforts can be supercharged by what is known as syndication. This is where your content is distributed to multiple sites, which obviously accelerates your popularity.

The article or blog must be considered quality content and so it should add value of some description. Squidoo is a particularly important social networking site because Google, which is probably the most popular search engine at the current time. It is not uncommon for Squidoo Lenses (websites) to be rated as number 1 on the first page of Google for given keywords. I therefore recommend including Squidoo in your web 2.0 strategy.

Twitter is another great resource for keeping in touch with people. You can build enormous follower lists from Twitter. There are several scripts (software tools) out there created that can be used to boost your follower base. One such tool is tweetmeme. This allows you to paste a link on your site that encourages readers to tweet your blog or article on Twitter. Tweeting is essentially commenting/rating your content, which leads to increased key relevance.

Be sure to create RSS feeds for your blog, as this will pull your readers back to your blog each time you add or edit content.

I hope you have found this article of great interest to you, and please take the time to rate it. I would also appreciate it if you tweet this to your followers.

There is a wide variety of strategies available to the successful internet marketer. This article seeks to discuss these strategies in order to whet the reader’s appetite sufficiently to generate a desire to seek further study.

As we all know (or should know) when it comes to internet marketing, “the money is in the list” that is to say, the subscriber list is the “asset”. This is also true for offline businesses who strive to keep up-to-date client information, in particular in relation to sales. This obviously includes what was bought, when, in what quantity, etc. etc. but in an online business this information becomes even more critical. That said, the online business has a multitude of softare available to it, that has the power to automate a great deal of this information.

A well balanced internet marketing strategy will include elements of paid for traffic, with the so called borrowed traffic tactics, such as affiliate marketing. Let’s take a look at examples of paid for traffic generation first. The most widely known form of paid for traffic on the internet is Pay Per Click (PPC). This strategy involves bidding for keywords with sites like Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Google’s Adwords programme is by far the biggest of the PPC programmes around today, and nets millions of dollars per day for Google across the globe, such is the coverage that the internet offers its users.

For those of you that are unsure about exactly what Google AdWords is, then take a look at the Google homepage (.com or your local version - i.e. .co.uk, .de etc.) and enter your search phrase in the search box. This search phrase is actually a “keyword”. When you click to search on your keyword, you will see paid for listings showing at the top of the list and also down the right hand side. These are simply PPC advertisers that pay Google for everytime someone uses Google to search for their bidded keywords.

Ok, enough about Pay Per Click. Let’s move on to affiliate marketing. Perhaps the biggest and best known proponent of affiliate marketing is Clickbank. Clickbank has been around for around ten years and it has established itself as a major (if not the ultimate) affiliate marketer payment processor. It advertises literally thousands of digital products (i.e. downloadable products as opposed to physical products) including ebooks, videos, software, etc. that comes packaged with affiliate programmes pre designed. An original product owner benefits by offering its product through Clickbank’s website, because the product is seen by thousands of potential affiliates that use clickbank.com and because the affiliate payments can be processed by Clickbank’s back office team, which makes it simpler for both the vendor and affiliate.

For proof of these two methods, if such proof were needed, one need only check out the latest IM products, advertised by enormously wealthy and well known internet marketing gurus. With products including Google Secret Loophole, PPC Bully 2.0, and Google Conquest 2.0, in respect of PPC, and CBquantum control and CBaffiliateblueprints covering Clickbank.

Search engine optimisation (Seo) is another marketing strategy that every marketer should be using. This method can, with a little study on your part (or of course it can be outsourced for a fee) doesn’t have to cost you any more than your own time. Seo is the act of setting up your site to be seen by search engines and thus drive traffic to it. The downside to seo work is the time it can take before any recognisable traffic improvement is seen.

By far one of the most popular strategies of modern times for generating huge numbers of opt-in prospects, is the phenomenon of web 2.0. Web 2.0 seeks to infiltrate social networking sites such as Facebook, Squidoo, Myspace, and Twitter in an effort to generate free advertising via the creation of backlinks (hyperlinks that can be linked back to your main website from blogs and articles) and uses so called viral techniques such as requesting the reader to Tweet about it on Twitter, or to send a link from the article to a friend (to create a self perpetuating article or blog promotion - so called “viral”).
